21st November 2015
We’ve heard there is snow in other parts of Europe today, which is hard to believe when we look up at these bright blue skies. Puerto Rico Gran Canaria weather is beautiful at the moment. These photos were taken yesterday afternoon, but today is very much the same. Cloudless skies and temperatures around 28ºC degrees!
Let’s take a walk over the blue bridge to Puerto Rico beach. Starting at the road outside Punta del Rey Apartments, head down the stairs. You may want to grab a cold drink from the supermarket on the right hand side.
Cross the bridge. There is an outdoor weighing scale on the end if you want to weigh yourself. Does anybody use those anymore? ?
Here we are in paradise, with a stunning view of Puerto Rico harbour (Puerto Escala) and beach. If you keep following the stairs all the way down, you will pop out at the side of the C.C. Passarella Shopping Center. Cross over the road and you are at the beach! It looks further away than it is, but if you like taking the stairs and want a bit of a walk before you relax on the beach, this is a better option than taking a taxi.
1st November 2015
Happy 1st November from Puerto Rico Gran Canaria! The weather really is fantastic for this time of year. Today we had a walk around the Farmer's Market at Puerto Rico park. Daytime temperatures are still in the mid 20ºs, with evenings turning a little cooler. Perfect for sitting on the balcony with good company and a glass of wine.
19th November 2014
Wow! What an intense day weather wise! As forecast, we’ve been experiencing some heavy rainfall in Gran Canaria. Puerto Rico usually escapes the rainy weather, but a mixture of a large volume of water gushing down from the mountains and a lot of rain in a short space of time resulted in the storm drains or ‘barrancos’ filling right up and making their way to the sea.
The subway (the underground passageway, not the sandwich shop) is currently filled to the top with water and is cordoned off as it’s unsafe. There is now a small river running through the back of Puerto Rico Shopping Center and a larger one next to Puerto Rico Beach which looks like something from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! It really is very curious, so stand by for lots of pics and a video. Temperatures are about 20ºC degrees.
There were a couple of people swimming on Amadores Beach despite the red flag warning.
Amadores Beach looking beautiful even on a rainy day.

29th November 2013
It's been a while since we did a weather report for Puerto Rico Gran Canaria on the blog. Mainly because it's usually very much sunshine and blue skies. A few of our Facebook friends have been asking about the weather this week though, as reports have shown rain.
Yes, we have had some rain, a shower last night and today also, with a very light grey cloud covering the whole sky. The sun was shining through the best it could, which allowed people to still enjoy the resort in shorts and t-shirt 🙂
So, it's still warm, with the nights turning a little cooler and the need for a light jacket.
28th November 2013
Despite forecast of rain, the sun shines strongly in Puerto Rico. Our photo of the day was taken around 11am this morning, looking down onto the Shopping Center. Temperatures are around 27ºc degrees at the hottest point of the day. We're pretty sure, we have the best weather in the world at the moment 🙂
18th November 2013
Whilst other parts of Europe are experiencing freezing temperatures, Puerto Rico beach in Gran Canaria is enjoying day time temperatures of high 20's and plenty of sunshine. Our photos of the day, taken this morning on Puerto Rico beach, show the beginning of another lovely day in the resort, where the most difficult decisions are which sun lounger to lay down in and what cold drink to order. 🙂
27th November 2012
This morning in Puerto Rico was beautiful as the November sunshine shone down on Puerto Rico beach. Our photo of the day was taken outside of Tobago Apartments. There were a few light showers mixed with sunshine later on in the day but it's still warm and even when it was raining there were tourists enjoying a stroll in their swimwear.
24th November 2012
A cloudless sky and hot sunshine shone down on Amadores Beach in Puerto Rico this afternoon. Our photos of the day show just how beautiful it was on this late November afternoon. Temperatures were around 30ºc degrees, as tourists and locals bathed and relaxed on the idyllic beach.

This week, two huge Christmas trees have been erected in Puerto Rico Shopping Center in time for the festive season. The tree below, in our photo of the day, is at the entrance to the center and perfect for those Christmas holiday snaps!
9th November 2012
Today is great proof that the Canary Islands in particular this little south-west corner in Gran Canaria that we know and love as Puerto Rico – has some of the best weather in the world. I’m not sure how many places on the 9th November have clear blue skies like these, with temperatures of 28ºc degrees.
Our photo of the day shows the directions to the Shopping Center in Puerto Rico and McDonalds, and old waterpark sign and the garage.
28th November 2011
After a fantastic start to the day with some wispy clouds, Puerto Rico has clouded over a little and it’s also a bit breezy. But, with temperatures still in the mid 20ºs at the end of November, who can complain?
27th November 2010
Hopefully you have been keeping up with our weather forecasts, if so, you will know that we have a big storm on the way to the Canary Islands. There have been bright blue skies today and although quite windy, a pleasant temperature. A great day to get the washing dry. ?
As night draws near in Puerto Rico, the clouds have made an appearance although the worst part of the storm itself isn’t due until Sunday and Monday. Already 9 flights have been cancelled in El Hierro and La Palma due to the strong winds and the fact that the storm is coming in off the Atlantic Ocean.
24th November 2010
The past week in Puerto Rico has seen a lot cloud, with the mornings being the sunniest part of the day in general. Today however has been lovely and sunny all day as was yesterday with plenty of sun and blue skies. Temperatures in the sun have been around 29ºC degrees in the hottest times of the day, with the evenings being what we like to call ‘Cardigan Weather’.
The wind picked up today, making a nice breeze especially if you are out walking and you could certainly still tan and find a suntrap.
Although the weather has finally picked up, we are expecting some rain and storms for the weekend with yellow alerts for the whole island.
4th November 2010
As mentioned in yesterday’s weather report, we are having a bit of heatwave with suspended sand (calima) and temperatures of around 32ºC degrees in daytime.
It seems the wind picks up now and again in gusts, but the sky has been very hazy today. Take a look at this screenshot of the Arguineguin webcam:
The sun was very defined and eerie looking this afternoon and according to reports, the calima will stick around until Sunday after which we can possible expect some showers.
